ONGC full form is Oil and Natural Gas Corporation. Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) is public sector Company. The head office of ONGC is situated in New Delhi. ONGC is the largest producer of Oil and Natura Gas in India. ONGC produce near around 84% of total natural Gas produce in India and near around 70 of total Crude Oil. Oil and Natural Gas Corporation was incorporated by Government of India on 14th August, 1956 and in 2010 Government of India award ONGC by Maharatna award.
History of ONGC
ONGC was incorporated by Government of India of 14th August, 1956.
Until 1955 only private Oil Companies were carried out exploration of hydrocarbon resources in India.
In 1955 Government of India under Ministry of Natural Resources and Scientific Research were decide to development of Oil and Natural Gas resources in India.
After adopting the Industrial Policy Resolution in 1956, Government of India decide to place Mineral Oil Industry in schedule ‘A’ industry.
In February 1994 Government of India sold 20% shares of ONGC to public and after that ONGC become the public company.
